How We Lifted a Kobelco SK130 Excavator Off an EIK Pontoon Using Our New 30-Ton Crane

July 31, 2026

Moving heavy equipment takes planning, the right tools, and an experienced team. At Houston Heavy Machinery, we recently completed the removal of a Kobelco SK130 excavator from an EIK pontoon inside our brand-new service facility. The project also gave us the opportunity to put our new 30-ton overhead crane to work.

A Job That Required Precision

Removing an excavator from a pontoon isn’t something you rush.

Every lift starts with a plan. Our technicians carefully evaluated the machine, identified the proper lifting points, and prepared the work area before the crane ever left the ground. Every step focused on safety, stability, and protecting the equipment.

Putting Our New 30-Ton Crane to Work

One of the newest additions to our service department is a 30-ton overhead crane designed to handle large and complex lifting jobs.

The crane allowed our team to lift the Kobelco SK130 smoothly and maintain complete control throughout the process. The additional lifting capacity also gives us the flexibility to perform more advanced repairs and equipment services in-house.

Investing in equipment like this helps us complete jobs more efficiently while maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Built for Heavy Equipment Service

Our new service facility was designed to handle projects that many shops simply can’t.

From routine maintenance to major component replacements and complete machine rebuilds, our team has the equipment, workspace, and experience to tackle demanding jobs safely and efficiently.

Whether we’re servicing excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, or other heavy equipment, every machine receives the same attention to detail.

More Than Just Equipment Sales

Houston Heavy Machinery doesn’t just sell equipment. We support customers long after the sale.

Our service department continues to grow with new technology, specialized equipment, and experienced technicians who keep machines working at their best. Projects like this Kobelco SK130 removal highlight the capabilities of our team and our commitment to investing in better service.

See the Lift in Action

This Kobelco SK130 pontoon removal is just one example of what happens behind the scenes in our shop. We enjoy giving customers a closer look at the equipment, planning, and teamwork that go into every major project.
