Heavy Equipment Technician
duties and responsibilities:
Performs most types of repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment major components such as engines, torque converters, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, and emission systems.
Troubleshoots performance problems.
Interpret parts and service manuals in order to properly diagnose repairs needed as well as order appropriate parts.
Maintain accurate record keeping of all daily tasks.
Work safely and follow all instructions related to company policies and regulatory agencies during the performance of duties.
Perform visual inspections on equipment and provide written reports of conditions and deficiencies.
Produce clean and accurate work.
Responsible and dependable.
Keep work area clean.
required skills and experience:
Minimum of (3) three years of experience repairing and maintaining Caterpillar, Komatsu or similar heavy equipment.
Ability to perform physical activities involving lifting items such as pumps, cylinder rods, engine components, and equipment parts.
Ability to climb on equipment such as trucks and other types of vehicles.
Ability to complete repair orders, purchase requests, and reports.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and other types of vehicles.
Ability and willingness to work overtime as assigned.
Strong welding skills preferred.
Provide own hand tools (wrenches and sockets) and storage necessary to perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (larger tools supplied by employer).
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated and capable of following directions and effectively work in a team environment.
Computer skills a plus.
Good attitude is a MUST.
